Paul's story

My role at Maia Financial gives me the freedom to draw on my multidisciplinary skill-set and broad-based experience to maximise growth opportunities for our clients. I have the privilege of leading a product development portfolio, with a strategic focus to leverage Maia Financial’s active asset management capability to partner with our clients in their transformative journey into the world of assets as a service. My daily quest is to think differently, examine critically, and build creative service solutions for our clients that add capacity to balance sheets, enhance liquidity, and deliver higher returns on assets.

I am a chartered accountant and a lawyer, with masters’ degrees in public finance and taxation, and moral philosophical ethics.

Curiosity has been the bedrock of my diverse 17-year career. Prior to Maia Financial, I worked at Monash Private Capital where I supported various deals and transactions from a variety of perspectives. Before moving to the Monash Private Capital group, I practiced commercial and corporate law at Sainty Law, a boutique law firm in Sydney. Prior to Sainty Law, I spent the first 12 years of my career at Deloitte in South Africa and Australia, where I specialised in tax advisory in the banking and finance sector, with a focus on securitisation, asset-based finance, derivative financial instruments and securities lending.
