By 2040, around 45% of Australia’s power generating capacity is located behind-the-meter. Its fossil-fuel dominated grid also transforms into a predominantly renewable system, as wind, PV and batteries replace retiring coal. (“New Energy Outlook” – Bloomberg New Energy Finance, June 2017)

Mark's story

I am a renewable energy practitioner and financier who is spearheading the development of Maia Financial's innovative renewable energy services offering. In 2013 I established Megawatt Capital, a specialist renewable energy project developer and adviser. Megawatt Capital played a key role in the development of the 309MW Hornsdale Wind Farm near Jamestown in South Australia. Hornsdale is an $800M project that was selected to host the Tesla super-battery project.

I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering and Science from the University of Sydney.

Before establishing Megawatt Capital, I led the renewable energy development practice of Investec Bank. I have also had stints in Power Project Finance with the National Australia Bank and Power Derivatives Trading with Societe Generale.
