“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style.”  – Maya Angelou

Marie-lyse's Story

I am a Solicitor with over 20 years of experience, predominantly in financial services. My role at Maia Financial is extremely broad and multifaceted. My primary focus at Maia Financial is to ensure that we minimize legal risk and keep our company safe. It is a serious role, but we make sure we have a bit of fun in the process. I absolutely love what I do and the people that I work with. Prior to Maia Financial I was Head of Group Legal at Investec Bank (Australia). Before arriving in Australia, I spent 10 years with the United States Army, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

I love the energetic and entrepreneurial environment we operate in, and the opportunity to create innovative solutions for our clients; no two days are alike.

I am very passionate about community: I volunteer with Cana Communities as well as in my local Parish on a regular basis on various projects. Outside my work life, I am on the Law Advisory Board of the University of Notre Dame Australia and I also mentor young lawyers. I have a keen interest and love of music – jazz, classical, opera; I sing in two a-cappella choirs; and I enjoy yoga, going for long walks with my husband, reading and travel. I am married with two adult children who are my pride and joy.
